This Ordinance regulates the content and scope of the risk assessment of the deliberate release of genetically modified organisms into the environment, the methodology for preparing the risk assessment, and the conditions that must be met by the legal entity for the preparation of the risk assessment.

This Ordinance transposes into the legislation of the Republic of Croatia the provisions of Directive 2001/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of March 12, 2001 on the deliberate relase into the environment of genetically modified organisms, as well as the changes to this directive, which were last amended and supplemented by Commission Directive (EU) 2018/350 of March 8, 2018 on the amendment of Directive 2001/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the assessment of the risk of genetically modified organisms to the environment (OJ L67, March 9, 2018).
